The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering is seeking a Data Analysis Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day research operations of Institute for Environmental Health Solutions (IEHS). The manager will oversee numerous ongoing activities associated with multiple concurrent research projects of the IEHS. This includes directly overseeing and contributing to project design, grant-based activities including scientific planning and writing, contributing to key scientific manuscripts, performing state-of-the-art computational analysis of data related to environmental health science, and chemical risk analysis. The IEHS seeks to identify the interactions between various disease states and the environment with a current focus at risk populations such as cancer survivors, individuals born prematurely, individuals with metabolic disease and individuals with respiratory dysfunction. We also investigate environmental health solutions for reducing the detrimental health effects of exposure to environmental contaminants in the community setting. We aim to improve public health by conducting integrative research across areas such as environmental sciences, epidemiology, biology, and laboratory research.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have experience in the coordination and management of the data analysis of multiple research projects that are both of national and international scope. The individual should have strong interpersonal, leadership and verbal/written communication skills. The individual should have knowledge/experience with human subjects ethics, data-use agreements and Institutional Review Boards. The individual should have experience in scientific networking and collaborations. The individual should have the ability to foster research partnerships among diverse areas of scientific expertise and have experience in collaborating with private research institutes and federal/international agencies. The individual should have experience in grant writing and submission and experience in manuscript writing including as first author. The individual should have experience in presenting research including oral and poster presentations. Supervisory experience of graduate students, post-docs and research staff is required.A PhD is required, preferably in environmental sciences or biomedical science.
