As a Senior Data Engineer on our Executions Team at Gelber, you will have a real opportunity to have a long-term career in Engineering at a successful trading firm. You will work side by side with other talented Engineers and have an opportunity to build out the firm’s infrastructure, systems, and practices regarding data. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, clear communicator, and has a strong interest in the financial markets. This position will report directly into the manager of our largest engineering team who reports directly into the Chief Technology Officer.

What you’ll do:

  • Create and maintain optimal batch & data pipeline architecture
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
  • Help govern/manage the data storage and data used for research and analysis by the various trading teams
  • Establish and execute processes and procedures around data including guiding the adoption of new technologies
  • Work with stakeholders, engineers, and traders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience coding in C#, Java, Python, or C++ with at least 3 of those year specifically in Data Engineering in Python
  • Strong experience with MySQL or other database technologies
  • Experience with DAG-oriented execution frameworks, such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Strong communication skills specifically when it comes to discussing technical knowledge to both technical and non-technical audiences to direct strategy and big picture architecture design
  • Not required to have a background in Financial Markets, but must have an interest
  • Experience working in an agile environment
