As an engineering manager of the Machine Learning team at Caption Health, you will organize the development of machine learning models to solve clinical problems and grow the team.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with your team members and key stakeholders (product, clinical, and regulatory) to: (1) help all the participants understand the problem holistically in terms of engineering, product, regulatory, and clinically, (2) establish compelling and sustainable plans on development and testing, (3) define quantitative/qualitative metrics to measure the progress, (4) monitor the progress, and (5) deliver.
- Build strong relationships with your team members, understanding their motivations, encouraging continuous learning and creating career development plans to help them succeed.
- Grow the team by hiring talented engineers and leading/organizing the hiring process.
- Model company vision/values through focus on execution and quality; maintain and foster inclusive, transparent, and supportive environment to promote collaboration & innovation.
- Keep balance between the speed of execution and longer term sustainability/scalability.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally across different engineering teams (ML and non-ML) and different departments (product, clinical, and regulatory).
- Strong people and project management skills with 3+ years as a software engineering manager.
- 3+ years of combined academic and/or industry experience in (1) developing and testing machine learning models, (2) Python, and (3) software lifecycle management, with product release experience.
- Strong teamwork ethic and passion for learning
- Knowledge of computer vision and image processing techniques and methods.
- Expertise in using cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of C++ in an industry context.
- Strong understanding of Python scientific stack (numpy, scipy, matplotlib, pandas, scikit-learn).
- Ability to write production code.
- Experience with testing frameworks, and code review processExperience in medical device development or regulated industry.
- Experience in a startup environment.
- Knowledge in statistics
