As Virtuoso continues to scale our data and analytics department, the Business Analytics Data Engineer is a critical role responsible for partnering with our analytics and insights teams to design, develop, implement, and maintain business intelligence datasets and assets.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.

  • Build data models. Prepare, wrangle, and model the Data to derive effective data models supporting scalable BI solutions.
  • Understand technical data sources, data structures, data quality and necessary transformations to aggregate, enrich, validate, and publish data.
  • Work with business analysts to combine data sources to build curated datasets to facilitate discovery of insights, identification trends, and to investigate anomalies.
  • Create solution specifications documents for report developers to convert business requirements to technical requirements.
  • Contribute to identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and seek to understand the data.
  • Ability to work in a white space environment and be creative.

Educational and Skills Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any quantitative field (business, math, finance, statistics, computer science, engineering, etc.)
  • 3-5+ years working experience
  • Strong SQL programming skills (Snowflake preferred)
  • Skilled in documentation and database reporting for the purposes of analysis, data discovery, and decision-making
  • Experience in data modeling and data prep (discovery, structuring, cleaning, enriching, validation, publishing)
  • Expertise in BI Tools (Tableau preferred) to develop reports
  • Detail oriented with strong sense of data accuracy
  • Creative problem solving
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Travel Requirements:
  • Infrequent travel may be required to attend company events (1-3 trips per year).
  • Travel will be primarily domestic but may include some international.

Type/Nature of Contacts:
  • Internal: Key job contacts are primarily with director level staff and above outside of the job’s immediate work unit/department.
  • External: Contact possible with members, partners, and outside vendors.
