A leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in the communities of Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario is a demonstration of Canada’s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.

The Data Analyst will support the various project teams at the Historic Waste Program. They will provide data analysis, aggregation and reporting expertise based on daily and weekly project updates. Their work will support project planning decisions and be used to inform various stakeholders so accuracy and attention to detail are key. They have an ability to implement best practices for data management and dashboard reporting in addition to supporting GIS and other management reporting systems as needed. They are an effective team member, easily able to juggle multiple deadlines and communicate technical issues into relevant business terms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Aggregate data from multiple sources into management systems Aggregate data from multiple sources into management systems:
  • Perform quality checks and report issues to project teams
  • Perform data analysis and maintain data freshness
  • Present findings and suggest improvements on current data to improve reporting
  • Generate reports and/or data visualizations as requested by project teams and stakeholders.
  • Support project teams by ensuring report parameters are accurate and valuable for decision making processes
  • Perform quality checks on reports to ensure accurate data processing
  • Present reports to stakeholders/teams and communicate findings in a professional manner while explaining data processes/system capabilities

Work closely with various HWP project teams to offer expertise and support on data and reporting needs. Support internal team on various business systems and be open to learning new skills and systems as well as teaching others.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Bachelor degree with focus on computer science, commerce, statistics, science or other similar subject where computations, excel and data are managed

Experience:
5+ years in a data analyst role and 3+ years supporting project teams

Abilities and Skills:
Highly skilled in planning and prioritizing work to meet various deadlines Flexible work schedule to meet project demands and last minute requests
Build cooperative relationships with professional and effective verbal and written communication skills Develop constructive relationships with project team members of all levels and be able to influence and/or educate Quick learner and highly adaptable to changes in processes, systems or technologies
Strong questioning attitude with logical thinking Detail oriented, accurate and precise.

Job/Industry Specific Knowledge:
Knowledge of advanced tools and features in Excel for data management Knowledge of database design principles and SQL
Well experienced in managing, manipulating and presenting large datasets Well experienced in data quality processes and data aggregation Experienced in dashboard reporting or data visualization
Well experienced in administration of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Online and/or Portal
Experience with project management processes: schedule, cost, change control
