The Analytics and Performance Reporting Branch responds to internal and external requests for reporting and analysis to support informed decision making, policy development, business planning, health system monitoring, and performance management.

The Analytics and Performance Reporting Branch in the Health System Quality and Performance Division focuses on analyzing a wide variety of data from administrative, EMR, surveys, and national sources to better understand the Alberta health system.
Reporting to the Manager of Methods and Modeling, this position will support many department priorities, including the COVID-19 response, enhancing public reporting of health system metrics (i.e. Continuing Care) and supporting pharmacy negotiations.
As a Health Data Analyst, you will help develop analytic infrastructure (such as the development of registries, data cleaning, linking, etc.), which is the critical and foundational basis for effective analytics, and deliver high-quality information products in a professional manner to customers and clients.
In addition to performing some of the roles above, the Health System Analyst will also help provide support services in data analysis, and analytic reporting.
You will be working in a team environment, often independently, preparing analytic information and reports, creating data cubes, data marts and data visualizations, and providing analytical support to the Ministry and other health system stakeholders.
You will employ your research and analytical skills to define the research problem, select the most appropriate data and methodology, transform and analyze data, write computer programs in SAS, and use econometric/statistical software packages as deemed necessary. You will be expected to apply your technical knowledge of managing large databases for complex analytics initiatives utilizing large datasets.
Utilizing your excellent written communication skills, you will produce explanations of analytical results in communications, presentations and other documents.
A University degree in biostatistics, mathematics, statistics, economics, public health, finance, or related discipline, and a minimum of two (2) years directly related experience is required.
