Job Summary: As a Data Analyst at Gemba, you will work directly with sport and entertainment organisations to tackle their most challenging data problems. You will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting large datasets, providing actionable insights to drive performance improvements, fan engagement, and business strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of data analytics, sports industry knowledge, and the ability to communicate complex data findings to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection & Management: Gather, clean, and manage large datasets from various sources including performance metrics, fan engagement data, and financial information
- Data Analysis: Utilize statistical techniques, data mining, and predictive modelling to analyse complex datasets and uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform decision-making
- Reporting & Visualisation: Create detailed reports and visualisations that effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaboration: Work closely with sport and entertainment organisations, including teams, leagues, stadiums and governing bodies, to understand their data needs and deliver tailored solutions
- Strategic Recommendations: Provide data-driven recommendations to improve performance, optimise operations, and enhance fan engagement
- Tool Development: Assist in the development and maintenance of analytical tools and dashboards that streamline data processes and enhance reporting capabilities
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest data analytics trends and tools, and continuously improve Gemba's data analytics processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in the sports industry or a related field
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, and data visualisation tools (Tableau or Power BI)
- Excellent understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling, and predictive analytics
- Experience working with sports-related data whilst not critical is desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data insights clearly and concisely to stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for sports and a deep understanding of how data can drive success in this industry
