Job Title: Business Intelligence Data Analyst Department: Information Systems Reports To: Director of Data Analytics Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Summary The Business Intelligence Data Analyst is responsible for providing meaningful business intelligence reports to various operational departments within the institutions served by Ember Education. This professional will develop and publish effective reports to support data-based decision making and provide insight on institutional strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with professional staff to identify organizational reporting and analysis needs
  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of data systems and workflow processes in assigned department functions
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary sources and develop integrated data sets
  • Design and publish reports that enable users to interpret complex data and inform action
  • Document and maintain data definitions and reporting methodologies

  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Competency

Knowledge in DAX, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, TSQL, SQL Server and PowerBI

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive knowledge and proficiency in: data management, workflow analysis, and business intelligence reporting.

Language Skills Ability to write and edit clear, succinct reports; ability to read, analyze and interpret common business process documents; ability to respond to common inquiries from staff, faculty, and external stakeholders; ability to write presentations and present information to top management.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have 1) proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; 2) advanced technical capabilities with Excel, PowerPivot, DAX, and PowerBI; and 3) possess the ability to learn and adapt to multiple, evolving systems for customer relationship management, student information, learning management, and related technical platforms.
