What you’ll be doing...

Transform complex data into easily understood, actionable information and flourish in a fast-paced environment with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities. We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer who is ready, willing and able to work on a portfolio of innovative projects to enable Data driven decisions in Verizon Global Supply Chain and Global Real Estate.

• Use critical thinking skills to analyze various global enterprise environments to transform data into actionable intelligence.
• Work with stakeholders to identify the business needs and provide optimal BI Solutions using cutting edge suits of tools (i.e. SQL, Tableau, Exasol, Looker, Erwin, Alteryx).
• Develop data solutions and products for automation and accessibility.
• Design and jointly develop the data architecture with a Data Architect and ensure security and maintenance.
• Build data assets that enhance the quality of overall data structures (Data dictionary) feeding the data science, Business intelligence and Data analytics program.
• Gather requirements, assess gaps and build roadmaps and architectures to help the analytics driven organization achieve its goals.
• Works closely with Data Analysts to ensure data quality and availability for analytical modelling.
• Develop data pipelines/ETL for ingestion into our data lake / data warehouses to drive analytical solutions.
• Data Profiling - Identify gaps and implement solutions for data quality and automation of processes, with security in mind.
• Support maintenance, bug fixes and performance analysis along data pipelines.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with data model development using ERWIN.
• Industry standard ETL tool experience using SSIS.
• Data exploration experience using SQL (PL/SQL or T-SQL with RDBMSs like Teradata, MS SQL Server, Oracle etc.) and Python.
• Experience using Hadoop, Map/Reduce, Spark, Hbase and Hive.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• A Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, IT, or related field.
• Four or more years of experience providing end to end solutions such as Stakeholder requirements, Data ingestion, Data cleansing, Data modeling, Process automation and Visualization.
• Data engineering – experience building production data pipelines using industry standard data sources ( Teradata, SAP HANA, HIVE, Postgress, Sql server, Oracle, Web based ) for the deployment of models utilizing Alteryx and SSIS.
• Experience UNIX shell scripting, Power Shell and CLU scripts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using data.
• Visualization tools (Tableau, QlikView, and SAP BI).
• Experience in Supply Chain/ Global Real Estate.
