A fantastic opportunity to join nbn, Australia’s largest infrastructure project, as the Senior Data Scientist, reporting to the Head of Data Science CoE.
A bit about your role
As the Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible to solve complex business problems with high-quality data science solutions. You will be required to deliver on analytic and data science engagements with the business, and meet stakeholder expectations which includes problem hypothesis, delivery, and testing approach, presenting results and recommendations for next steps.
The role will require you to produce high-quality analysis with data assets and analytical models that comply with standards and practices. It will be your responsibility to ensure tangible business outcomes are delivered.
Beyond this, you will play a key role in the nbn Data Science community, defining and developing standards and best practices across the analytic and Machine Learning (ML) lifecycle. Further, you will promote data literacy across nbn by demonstrating the value of data science, as well as building trust and cross-functional collaboration together with business, IT, and other key stakeholders.
A bit about you
As the Senior Data Scientist, you are a creative problem solver, with strong math skills, and an agile development mindset. You will bring demonstrated experience applying a breadth of analytics skills to drive projects and BAU activities that translate data into actionable business insights, leading to proven business value and impact on strategic decisions. Moreover, you appreciate the benefit of constant iteration and improvement whilst balancing having something now vs robust and operational in the future.
You have a distinct ability to identify and implement robust, efficient, and scalable solutions that leverage multiple techniques and/or technologies, this would include significant experience using statistical methodology, machine learning algorithms, and programming languages that support data analysis (SQL, Python) to analyse information to discover trends and patterns.
Additionally, you will bring substantial experience presenting information using data visualisation techniques (Tableau).
The successful candidate will bring exceptional written, and verbal communication and presentation skills, with experience in effectively communicating actionable insights.
An advanced degree (PHD or Masters) in Applied Math, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Business Administration, or any other related field would be ideal.
