Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
Principal Global Investors is looking for a Data Engineer to join their organization! This team has a passion for continuous learning and improvement, creativity, and problem solving. This role will help build out our digital intelligence platform and bring these capabilities to scale to align with enterprise efforts. Here are few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:
- Work with teammates to build technical solutions that are reusable, scalable, fast, and maintainable through large datasets, both clean and un-clean.
- Focus on growing as an engineer, learning existing tools, resources and processes.
- Expanding and optimizing data and data pipeline architecture.
- Assist to design, implement and maintain investment product datasets in alignment with data and analytics vision and strategy.
- Support critical, ongoing operations while also contributing to new strategic solutions.
- Own continuous improvement in yourself, your team, and the solutions you build.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with:
- Bachelor's degree or a Master's in a related field
- Ability to work directly with data and datastores through programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java, etc.
- Cloud platforms exposure (we use AWS, but open to experience in others)
- Basic planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
Additional preferred experience:
- Collaborative and adaptable
- Excellent time management skills
- Database operations, structures and design
- Knowledge of agile (scrum) development methodology

Hours
May be required to provide on-call support/hours.
