Role Description
This position is a data engineer professional with good working knowledge of, and experience with, data solutions development, analysis and engineering principles, practices, concepts, and theories. You will maintain and enhance the operational processes and technologies that support data assets in a sustainable and efficient environment. Develops data solutions for both transactional and analytical systems using diverse platforms. Activities impact not only Data Engineering work but also many other Digital Solutions areas aspects. You will assist in the development of entry-level employees with Data Engineering responsibilities through coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing.

What YOU will do:
  • Assure data availability requirements are met for defined project areas, including implementing and tuning performance for data loading and data access
  • Develop one-time and/or repeatable data solutions to support data migrations, batch platform alignment, or other inter-platform data exchanges
  • Maintain and improve existing ETL and other data transformation processes as required
  • Partner closely with 3rd party data providers to assure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met regarding availability, quality and performance
  • Assist application owners, data analytics team, and other enterprise stakeholders to design, review, and/or improve data processes and objects
  • Collaborate in best practice efforts throughout the enterprise
  • Support best practices in database maintenance in creating, storing, archiving, securing, and disposing of data
  • Understand metrics to measure data availability and access timing, and query performance
  • Support identification and remediation of database and environment related issues
What YOU'LL bring to the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Computer Science, Information Technology or another related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional work experience in a data engineering related role
  • Experience working with data consumers to understand availability, performance, security and access
  • Expertise in applying appropriate performance-tuning techniques for the movement and loading of data
  • Ability to analyze and modify data integration code and processes built by other developers
  • Solid knowledge of and experience in data modeling, data warehousing, business intelligence and data integration technologies
  • Deep experience with RDMS tools and languages (ex. T-SQL (stored procedures), SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server Management Studio, and SQL Server). Experience with tools such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Integration Services a plus.
  • Strong experience with various cloud-based PaaS platforms (ex. AWS/Redshift or Azure), data modeling tools (ERwin, ERStudio, PowerDesigner).
  • Basic experience with at least one front-end programming language (ex. C#, Java, Python) and the administration of databases.
  • Successful experience working with big data and NoSQL databases; some experience working with unstructured data and data streaming
  • Ability to proactively identify processes warranting automation
  • Ability to partner with application owners, data analysts and data scientists in defined project areas to understand performance and access needs, including 3rd party data
  • Experience working with 3rd party data providers, regarding the structuring and enforcement of SLAs
  • Knowledge of data lifecycle, measuring data performance and data issue management
  • Ability to oversee and execute multiple projects, teams, and individuals with a proactive and adaptive mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Demonstrated ability to work with both technical and non-technical individuals in a team environment
  • Strong ability to think creatively
  • Experience of working in an agile, dynamic, and customer-centric environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in the business language for PMI (English)
