Data Analyst, Data Governance

Job description

This position will follow our hybrid work model, we expect the selected candidate to be in the office 2-3 days a week at our St. Petersburg Corporate Office location

Job Summary:

The Data Analyst works closely with business units to ensure business activities are aligned with the enterprise data strategy. This role is part of the Data Governance program, the role is focused on maintaining the Ab Initio MHub Application and supporting the onboarding data domains. Conducts full lifecycle activities including requirements analysis and design, developing analysis and reporting capabilities, and continuously monitoring performance and quality control plans to identify improvements. Assists the business in turning data into information, turning information into insight and insight into decisions. Demonstrates subject matter expertise and integrates domain knowledge into work with an understanding of financial services standards and practices. Serves as the primary on the most complex or escalated issues, and may provide direction and guidance to team members. Applies specialized business knowledge and technical skills to significant deliverables and projects that involve multiple IT departments, business units and have enterprise impact. Makes judgments and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communicates effectively with internal advisors to address questions regarding data discrepancies
  • Interprets data and analyzes results using statistical techniques. Provides reports regularly.
  • Develops and implements data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and maintains databases and data systems.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filters and “cleans” data, reviews computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators
  • Profiles data sources using SQL and other data discovery tools in support of data quality analysis
  • Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities.
  • Partners with team members to develop project schedules, reports and documentation.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Effective communication with business users of data
  • Knowledge of data models, data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Familiar with PL SQL and MS SQL databases, able to run SQL queries
  • Experience using software packages (MS Access, Pivot Tables, Tableau) for analyzing large datasets.
  • Knowledge of DCAM framework preferred but not required
  • Experience running queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Experience in the financial services industry preferred but not required

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
  • TYPICALLY requires a Bachelor's degree; 1-2 years of relevant experience. May have one or more technical or business-related certifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or a related field. Experience in the financial services industry is preferred but not required

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Data Governance related certification (i.e. CDMP) preferred but not required
