The opportunity

US Technical Services Integrity Department manages the integrity of TC Energy’s US gas pipeline assets by developing, implementing and continually improving programs and risk-based solutions while concurrently meeting regulatory requirements to maintain safe and reliable operations. The department is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are seeking a skilled individual to join the team to further develop our data and business analytics.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has excellent organization, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, exercises good judgment, and has excellent writing and interpersonal skills. This position is part of a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with professionals in Pipeline Integrity and the US Gas Business Unit to assist in developing and implementing data and business analytics.

What you’ll do

• Coordinate project activities to support project manager (PM) in determining scope of work
• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities to drive business solutions by leveraging company data
• Migration of verified offline pipeline data back to enterprise as part of long term strategy
• Mine and analyze data from various systems to drive optimization and improvement of business strategies
• Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze project performance and data accuracy
• Other tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution
• 2 or more years of relevant experience
• Proven success using business analytics, developing visual dashboards and reports
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
• Experience working with and creating data architectures
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to think strategically, weigh issues and recommend effective solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
• A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
• Well-developed organizational and multi-tasking skills and the ability to be flexible
• Work well independently under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and circumstances
• Proven team player with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships
• Excellent networking and partnership skills to develop and maintain external working relationships

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge to ESRI ArcMap

• Proficiency and working knowledge of MS Office Suite including SQL Server, Excel, Access, and Power BI

This position requires candidates to

• Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
