Data Engineer - Remote

Rancho Biosciences is seeking a remote data engineer to modify existing and build new solutions to support scientific data and information storage, access, and integration.

We are a Data Curation company working with some of the most renowned pharmaceutical companies in the world. Our team of curators, computational biologists, data scientists, and software developers are located throughout the country. We support talented people living where they choose, working collaboratively together on projects that have a real impact on human health.

Responsibilities:

• Build efficient, scalable data processing pipelines for both existing data assets and newly identified data sources
• Implement pipelines to perform data cleanup and consistency checks across multiple datasets
• Work closely with clients to understand their data integration needs
• Integrate structured and unstructured data assets across multiple platforms
• Find trends in datasets and develop workflows and data models

Desired Experience:

• 3+ years experience in a developer role with similar experience
• Bachelors degree in computer science or related field, Masters preferred
• Experience deploying automated data pipelines in the cloud
• Must be skilled in PySpark / Databricks
• Experience with data lake or data warehouse development
• Coding skills in python, SQL, NoSQL
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and technologies such as Databricks
• Experience processing of biotech datasets
• Experience with ontologies
• Experience in Life Sciences (Biology, Clinical Sciences, Chemistry) is preferred
• Strong attention to details
• Strong written and oral communication skills
