Data is the foundation of what we do. It’s what made insurance one of the first industries to make computers a standard in doing business. But it’s time to help our industry make a leap, and to do that we need data from all kinds of sources in all sorts of data types to feed into our host of applications and risk engines. It’s this kind of data that will allow us to create newer and more equitable risk metrics to eventually take insurance away from its antiquated proxies for risk and into something more accurate, and more human.
Job Description:
As a part of the growing data engineering team at Coterie, you will be responsible for helping build the critical ETL pipelines, data stores, and delivery mechanisms that will power our contemporary cloud-first environment. This work will allow us to provide better risk, power dynamic data visualizations for our partners and clients, and fuel the next generation of insurance coverage. As a result of our data-hungry approach, you’ll be faced with scraping, integrating, munging, cleaning, and helping organize information from a litany of traditional and non-traditional sources. It’s this variability that will be key, rather than purely thinking in terms of Big Data centered scale. This is about being nimble and everywhere.
Requirements:
- Experience with building and/or maintaining ETL/ELT processes
- Experience working in a cloud-based data environment
- Experience working in an RDBMS environment
- Knowledge of R, Python, or any other Big Data language
- Experience working on a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers
- Transactional data experience
Bonus Points:
- Experience with insurance data (e.g., policy administration, claims administration, finance/accounting).
Our Interview Process:
Our hiring process generally consists of 3 phases.
- Phase 1: Qualified candidates will first meet with HR for a phone interview. This discussion is a high-level conversation to understand more about your background and interests and for us to share more about Coterie and the position.
- Phase 2: Selected candidates will then meet our Hiring Manager for the 2nd interview via Teams video. This interview is designed to be more detail-oriented and allows you to learn more about the role.
- Phase 3: Top candidates will receive an invite for our final interview series via Teams video. This series will include an experimental exercise project (provided in advance), 1:1 interviews with selected team members and a culture focused interview. The final series is roughly 1.5-3 hours in total but can be scheduled over a few days for flexibility.
Benefits:
