The Team
The Data Science & Engineering (DSE) team here at Momentum is a small group of scrappy, experienced problem-solvers who love challenges. We embody a get stuff done mentality and, as individuals who thrive in a startup environment, embrace teamwork, learning new skills, and cross-functional collaboration. The Role
The Commercial Data Science team sits at the intersection of commercial stakeholders and the Data Science and Engineering team at Momentum. Our mission is to combine best practices in: statistical analysis, software solutions, and business acumen to provide data-backed solutions to business problems. These can take the form of consulting projects, building scalable and generalized analyses, proposing statistical experiments and more. The successful Commercial Data Scientist is able to quickly digest business opportunities, transform them into rigorous data projects, and present the results as actionable recommendations to their stakeholders.
Requirements
- Must have 2+ years of professional experience in a Data Science or Analytics role
- Background in quantitative analysis and an ambition to develop data science and engineering skills by applying them to real business problems
- Proficiency in a query language (SQL), and scripting language (Python/R), familiarity with ETL pipelines preferred
- Proficiency in statistical concepts (Experimental Design, A/B Testing, Time Series Analysis)
- Experience and comfort with data storytelling, communicating the results of statistical analyses internally to commercial stakeholders or externally to clients
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Previous experience in a startup a plus
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive results
- Experience in eCommerce and/or advertising/marketing technology including retail marketplaces (e.g. Amazon & Walmart) a plus
Responsibilities
- Work within the Data Science & Engineering team to provide our client services teams with data-backed solutions to business problems.
- This could take the form of statistical analyses, automation-based tools, or data visualization and analytics tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively identify opportunities to drive growth both internally and for our clients
- Own automating key processes and delivering unique insights to ensure our teams can exceed our client's expectations.
