About the Role

Engineering Security (EngSec) at Uber is tasked with the cyber-defense of Uber's businesses and assets, and is on a major growth path to deliver the best capabilities for our businesses while advancing the cybersecurity field. We are looking for a Data Analyst, to join the Analytics & Reporting team, to develop processes and techniques for driving operational and business insight from the entire span of cybersecurity programs, operations, and projects. This is a great opportunity to join a fast growing EngSec organization in a growth company focused on big bets, and to make tremendous impact in driving metrics and data rigor in one of Tech's most exciting cybersecurity arenas.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze rich operational 'data exhaust' to support operational success across teams, drive executive-level clarity, and deliver actionable operational and business insights
  • Build and maintain data dashboards, supported by robust data hygiene and automated data collection/parsing processes
  • Develop and promote a common internal body of knowledge (framework, lexicon, process) for evolving metrics development
  • Work cross-functionally within EngSec and with partner organizations, to identify high-value problems / challenges addressable by data-analytic methods
  • Create data visualizations for different audience levels (e.g., executive, operational)

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA or higher in quantitative fields e.g. statistics, math, computer science, operations research, engineering or related disciplines
  • 1-3 years of experience as a data analyst in a tech company
  • Experience in handling large scale unstructured data using Hadoop. Expertise in SQL, as well as ability to do more advanced data programming using Hive, Pig, Spark, etc

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with creating and maintaining dashboards on Tableau
  • Knowledge in programming using basic modeling techniques, decision trees, Monte Carlo, logistic regression, SAS, Perl, R, Python
  • Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a 'get things done' bias toward action
  • Ability to operate collaboratively and efficiently in fluid, ambiguous environment
  • Ability to drive order from chaos and to tenaciously drive projects to completion
  • Deeply passionate about user experience and able to make product / analysis recommendations that delight internal users
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and peers
