What You Will Do
The Business Data Analyst is a strategic problem solver with strong business acumen, who plays a pivotal role in providing the principles, policies, architecture, and governance to enable consistent, trusted, and usable data to drive accurate data-driven business outcomes and deliver on a multi-year roadmap to establish the foundation of integrated analytics. Your excellent communication skills will engage, influence, and encourage partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment; inspiring, motivating, and developing high performing colleagues, collaborating to ensure our data supports product’s long-term goals of scalability, extendibility, and flexibility.
Job Responsibilities
With approval from the project leadership team, coordinates with technical resources (such as the technical architect) and carries out the following:
- Design and implement models, policies, and practices that support the optimization of data assets for operational, analytical, and strategic use
- Facilitate the standard inclusion of embedded data governance functions in applications, enabling end users to be self-sufficient in understanding the data and actively engaged in data management practices
- Train others on data analysis, data modeling and data governance; mentor team members with less experience
- Design and implement policies and practices that drive data consistency, data accuracy, and data transparency for technical systems and end users
- Design, review, and create Kimball data models for data products and business intelligence reporting systems like Power BI
- Design and produce ETL to populate dimensional structures
- Facilitating data discovery sessions involving business subject matter experts
- Introduce, recommend, and ensure standard practices are followed for naming, designing, logging, monitoring, and alerting data environments and transactions
- Work closely with product owners to understand and refine feature requests.
- Work closely with project team to design, review, and develop new data structures and pipelines
- Communicate technical ideas in terms product owners and non-technical users can understand
Required
What we look for
- 5-6 years of work experience in data analysis
- 3 years experience writing advanced SQL, ETL
- 5+ years of BI/DW and dimensional data modeling experience
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing, ETL and BI architectures, concepts, and frameworks
Preferred
- Knowledge of Kimball and Inmon approaches and the core differences
- Knowledge of RDBMS platforms with experience in generating DDL
- Experience in normalized data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical Data Models; and interpreting normalized designed into dimensional designs
