Headquartered in Australia, Omniscient is a pioneer in human Connectomics, a field of neuroscience that investigates the structural and functional connections of the human brain. These insights are rapidly changing the research, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases such as depression, anxiety, dementia, chronic pain, cancer, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, ADD, ADHD, PTSD & TBI.

Since founding we have grown exponentially and achieved several world-firsts, such as the development of the world’s first Connectomic neurosurgical planning platform to be cleared by regulatory bodies. Today, we are building the world’s most advanced repository of brain imaging data to facilitate researchers globally with the goal of using machine learning to explore the brain’s 100 billion connections.

Dr Stephane Doyen | Co-Founder, Director, Chief Data Scientist & Chief Technology OfficerAs the Head Data Scientist with top-tier consultants, Oliver Wyman, combined with a PhD in neuroscience from Cambridge, Stephane is the ideal technical leader to develop our brain/machine-learning software.

Stephen Scheeler | CEO & DirectorStephen headed up Facebook’s #5 market (ANZ) and was a pivotal figure in scaling Facebook from start up to US$500+ billion giant. Stephen brings the commercial software business leadership to execute our vision.

Role ( what your day to day might look like)

Join a team responsible for building and maintaining Medical Systems which must be demonstrated as Safe and Effective. This target environment means that we need to maintain strong and consistent development practices, which result in the ability to know what we are shipping and to prove that it works exactly as we intend. This process serves us, not the other way around; as we find opportunities to work better, we adopt them.

You have a solid grounding in mathematics, image processing and machine learning. You have proven experience delivering reliable algorithms into production environments and have a strong customer-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Translate prototype image processing and machine learning approaches and models into reliable, scalable medical grade implementations
• Join a small team delivering high-quality code and task estimation
• Champion scalable designs that results in low-touch, low-support user workflows
• Contribute to essential quality processes, including consideration of risk and security
• Troubleshoot software and operational issues in collaboration with the Support team
• Actively contribute to the development of our technological stack and tooling.

Key requirements

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Must have 5+ years of experience gained in development of scientific computing or machine learning applications
• Demonstrated proficiency with key technologies: C++, Python, TensorFlow, Scikit, Colab
• Practical experience with: API’s, Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of challenges with computing at scale and expertise in implementing related solutions
• Superior understanding of data structures and image processing algorithms
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Passionate and curious about technologies, programming languages and technological frameworks
• Active contributor to various technological projects, active on github, stackoverflow etc.
• Aspiration to master your own craft

Highly Desired

• Masters or PhD in image processing, machine learning or similar highly desired
• Experience with developing software in the context of medical standards (e.g., ISO13485) and the DICOM format is an asset.
