WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Relatus is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing Data Infrastructure team to support our data architecture and data service layer. At Relatus, data infrastructure serves as the foundation of our tech stack. The reliability and scalability of our data platform and data science solutions are entirely dependent on our data infrastructure which is why we put it first.

Your primary responsibilities will be to review, refine and manage a scalable enterprise data architecture, implement third-party data integrations, develop ETL processes and procedures, and review, optimize and implement the platform Data Service Layer API. This role will work closely with the data architect to define and manage the overall data strategy for growth, sustainability and new product development.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of software or database development experience (or equivalent proficiency)
• Proficiency in Python

  • Data pipelines, understand how storage and compute fits together
  • End-to-end ETL
  • Containerized applications

  • Raw SQL / sql command line
  • Object oriented translated models (ORM)
  • Scripted Database migrations

YOU ARE

• Obsessed with optimizing application performance and data management
• A self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Capable of turning general requirements into specific estimates and deliverables
• Able to see the “big picture” and can find ways to enrich and enhance products with better data management and application services
• A whiz with large unstructured datasets
• Comfortable working with a remote global team, and willing to make adjustments to work hours as needed

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiency in cloud services such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS
• Expert experience in one or more coding languages, Python preferred
• Expert experience with commercial and open-source tools
• Expert experience with ORMs (SQLalchemy preferred)
• Expert in API development with tools, FastAPI preferred
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Collaboration style to work with a small and agile engineering team
• Excellent documentation habits

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Five or more years of professional work experience in a data science or engineering role with demonstrable skills.
• A four-year college degree with a focus on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science

WORK LOCATION

This position enables remote working from a location of your choice during core company business hours or optionally from a designated company office location near you when available. Travel to an office location or facility is not required for this role.
