Applied Data Scientist

Revionics, an Aptos company, guides retailers on the lifecycle pricing journey with leading AI solutions for pricing, promotions and markdowns. Role And Responsibilities

Revionics has an immediate opening in our Science Services team for an Applied Data Scientist. Preferred location is London, but will consider other locations or remote workers in Europe.

This individual will work in a fast-paced environment as part of multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver analytical services and data-driven insights to retailers. The successful candidate will bring a balance of creative problem solving, hands-on data skills, and practical analytical skills to the organization. Strong communication skills and experience in a related analytics role are required, and some experience working in the retail industry is desirable.

This position may require up to 25% travel, mostly to client sites across Europe.

What You Will Do
  • Learn and develop a solid understanding of Revionics’ demand modelling and optimisation algorithms, and the core set of data science services which we provide to clients – and explain these to clients and colleagues
  • Execute and deliver analytical services for customers, using sales data and Revionics’ AI/ML demand models. Typical outputs include data-driven recommendations for item or category level pricing strategies; or providing analysis on Store Clustering or Promotion Performance
  • Perform forecast accuracy evaluations on-demand model outputs, and apply model tuning techniques to maximise model accuracy
  • Assist in Value Measurement analysis to demonstrate the value of our price optimization solution for existing customers
  • Help design and improve processes for automated evaluations of models on multiple datasets
  • Work with our Professional Services project implementation teams, especially Price Strategy Consultants, in the delivery of data science services and sharing of analytical insight as part of client projects
  • Collaborate with other members of the data science teams to help improve our modelling capability
  • Develop new analytical services, leveraging our data science capability and demand models to provide solutions to retailers pricing challenges
  • Use a combination of tools including SQL, Google BigQuery, Python, Tableau, Looker and in-house software
What You Have
  • Strong quantitative, mathematical and analytical skills; and ability to understand statistical models (such as those used for demand forecasting)
  • Effective communication and presentation skills: ability to explain complex information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills: ability to interpret data and diagnose issues using structured methods
  • Self-motivation to perform in a fast-paced environment; to deliver solutions with accuracy and speed
  • Experience working in relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent)
  • Experience creating and using analytic scripts to perform data analysis processes (e.g. using Python, R, SQL, Alteryx etc)
  • Data visualization skills (Tableau highly desired) and ability to display complex information in a simple and clear manner
  • Experience applying analytics in an industry (e.g., retail, financial, logistics, etc.)
How You Can Stand Out
  • Experience working in or with retail industry (especially merchandising or pricing roles), familiarity with retail sales data
  • Strong knowledge of statistical regression and modelling techniques (least squares, maximum likelihood, Bayesian estimation.)
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts fast
  • Proficiency with Python, JuPyter notebooks, SciPy, numPy
  • Strong proficiency with visualization tools and business intelligence applications (Tableau, Alteryx, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Classification and Clustering methods (K-means, Non-hierarchical, etc.)
  • Achieved advanced degree in Operations Research, Econometrics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physical Sciences or similar quantitative discipline
  • Awareness of data load and ETL / Automation tools (Informatica, etc.)
  • Fluency in German, Spanish or other European languages
