The Data Science team at OLX Europe is responsible for building algorithmic solutions to facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers. We are developing personalisation technologies and optimisation strategies that have a direct impact on OLX's users as well as the company's bottom line.
You will be encouraged to research state-of-the-art data science, in the areas of metric design and impact analysis, using methods such as time series analysis, design of experiments, and causal inference to understand the relation between different KPIs. Applying such methods to the OLX customer facing KPIs and connecting them to desired business outcomes will allow us to construct the map of relations between KPIs, integrate the main levers to our Experimentation platform for validation, and eventually make more informed decisions from the Product and Business standpoint.
What you will be doing
- Work hands-on and drive technical side data science efforts in the broader field of metric design and impact analysis (e.g. connecting KPIs of product packs to intermediate level KPIs of the customer journey and the business, and eventually to revenue).
- Partner with Heads of Product and propose KPIs for specific Product Pillars that are indicators of success.
- Suggest easily measurable proxies for these KPIs.
- Partner with the Experimentation team to integrate the KPIs and their proxies to the Experimentation (A/B testing) platform.
- Combine methods of time series analysis, causal inference, experimental design and A/B testing to quantify the effect of actionable tactical KPIs to more slow moving strategic ones.
- Measure the impact of your models against company goals.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software against schedules.
What are we looking for:
- A deep understanding of machine learning techniques and experience applying them to solve problems in the area of impact analysis (attribution, time series analysis, causal inference).
- At least 4 years of experience in the data science field with a track record of successful project delivery, with at least 2 years in a role related to attribution and design of experiments.
- Industry experience creating and productionizing machine learning algorithms at scale.
- A strong engineering background with good knowledge of Python and exposure to one more programming language (Kotlin, Java, etc), as well as engineering best practices.
- Experience writing SQL queries and handling large amounts of data.
Nice to have:
- Experience with methods such as quasi experimentation or similar.
- Experience in managing projects with diverse cross functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud based tools for production use (e.g., AWS Athena, AWS Sagemaker, AWS Kinesis) or equivalent tools from other cloud providers.
- Experience building large-scale batch data pipelines with Spark or AWS Batch.
- Experience with platforms for programmatically authoring, scheduling and monitoring workflows (e.g. Apache Airflow).
