About the Job

LTV is looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing team as a remote/WFH employee.

Your experience here will give you the opportunity to touch upon and learn a broad spectrum of skills up and down the stack as well as a breadth of technologies. If you’re comfortable writing backend APIs, processing raw data, creating stream and batch data pipelines, working closely with databases and data warehouses, learning about infrastructure, and discovering cool new technologies then this might be the job for you. You will have a voice in what you build and you'll have the opportunity to prove your ideas. At LTV, we all work closely together across teams so there's no red tape or bureaucracy. What You’ll Get to Do

Within our team of developers, everyone has some ownership of a portion of our architecture. There are several different applications, ranging from message queues (SQS) and workers feeding our +100TB Data Warehouse in BigQuery, workflows running in Apache Airflow processing raw files with +2 billion rows, AWS lambda functions processing data streams in real-time, to an ever-expanding collection of microservices written in Golang and Python. We are constantly facing new challenges and always looking for new technologies to create the best solutions.

A Data Engineer joining our team will be exposed to a wide range of cloud services and frameworks and will work closely with stakeholders from multiple teams on building and optimizing scalable data pipelines that meet the business requirements. We are always looking for improvement and we expect members of our team to be vocal about problems they see as we prefer to be proactive rather than reactive. What You Bring to the Table

• 2+ years of back-end development experience
• 2+ years of experience with SQL
• Familiarity with API development
• Understanding of HTTP and how clients interact with a web server
• Knowledge of RESTful web services
• Knowledge of JSON/XML
• Knowledge of Docker
• Solid understanding of coding best practices
• Familiarity with source control
• Be independently driven and resourceful to deliver results with minimal direction
• Have an entrepreneurial spirit with a drive to contribute new ideas for future development
• Have the ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pluses

• Experience working in an agile development environment
• Experience programming in Golang
• Experience with UNIX command-line tools (sort, split, wc, uniq, grep, sed)
• Experience with column storage (Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery)
• Experience with ETL processes and tools (Embulk, Airflow)
