We are looking for an experienced data scientist who is passionate about leveraging data to help create and improve real-world solutions to improve member care. This position will support STARS Advanced Analytics. STARS are CMS measures of quality of health and drug services received through Medicare Advantage. This role will conduct analytics on a variety of data sources to identify optimization opportunities and recommend strategies to improve members’ participation with health improvement services like preventative screenings and disease management. Additionally, the data scientist will support analytics data architecture strategy and execution.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex data analytics to identify insights that can be incorporated into strategic recommendations for improving member care and to drive STARS performance improvements.
  • Work in a cross-disciplinary environment to embed analytics into strategies that address business problems through data-driven solutions
  • Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to a range of stakeholders
  • Support data acquisition and integration necessary to execute analytics projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Health Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience with Python, SAS, or R
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in developing analytical solution using techniques such as machine learning, propensity matching, hypothesis testing and descriptive statistics
  • 2+ years of experience applying data analysis to solve business problems
  • 2+ years of experience communicating analytic results to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Knowledge of case-cohort and case-control studies
  • Experience with STARS / HEDIS measures
  • Familiarity with Medicare concepts

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
