Job description

Our mission is to inspire entrepreneurs and shoppers to find something new. We buy great brands built on Shopify, unlocking liquidity for small business entrepreneurs looking to start new adventures. We manage nearly 50 brands with over 100,000 products across apparel, beauty, home goods, and electronics.

Our team of e-commerce experts and engineers uses our proprietary technology and tooling, and advantages from our size, to grow our brands at scale.

Two million people have purchased OpenStore products, and soon, we’ll launch a consumer shopping app, helping people discover products in an all-new way. OpenStore was started in 2021 by top investor and operator, Keith Rabois, a former executive at PayPal, LinkedIn, and Square, and a co-founder of Opendoor. We are backed with $150M+ from world-class investors such as Atomic, Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, and Lux Capital.

We’re looking for a Data Analyst to help us draw insights into what’s next for OpenStore. You’ll work directly within our Data Science & Analytics team to drive the vision and build-out automated dashboards and self-service analytics capabilities. We’re looking for a candidate with business intelligence experience who can use statistical/analytical techniques to translate complex data sets into simple business recommendations cross functionally.

OpenStore has a unique model, where it acquires and operates dozens of individual direct-to-consumer brands. Data is core to the OpenStore strategy; we’re stitching together granular Shopify sales records, product characteristics, ad placements, web traffic and more to construct a detailed view into thousands of digital merchants. This is an opportunity to build the cornerstone of our company to solve deep business problems across each aspect of the organization. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in a fast-paced, ever-changing startup environment.

  • Help gather, inspect, and draw meaningful conclusions from our data in order to support informed decision making within the business
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to track key performance indicators related to merchant acquisition.
  • Work cross functionally to own and maintain initiatives that drive data driven optimizations
  • Act as a liaison among marketing, growth, and engineering teams, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.

  • You are analytically rigorous. You have a deep bias towards using data and analyses to drive decisions. Your second language is performance KPIs and you know your numbers and the inputs needed to continue improving those KPI metrics.
  • You like to build and ship. You work proactively and don’t wait for direction to build the processes and dashboards that you know we’ll need right around the corner.
  • You can work through data ambiguity. You bias toward action and roll up your sleeves when you uncover an issue, taking a complex issue and making it simple for all parties involved.
  • You are collaborative, organized and thoughtful. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Bachelors/Masters in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, statistics, business, data science) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in business intelligence and data analysis
  • A passion for using data to find and execute opportunities others don’t see
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL and ability to write efficient and well-structured queries on large, often messy, data sets.
  • Familiarity with Excel and Google Sheets functions and formulas.
  • Strong experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Mode etc.)
  • A strong point of view on what OpenStore should and shouldn’t focus on.

OpenStore is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer where we welcome and celebrate differences. We are committed to providing a workspace that is safe and inclusive, where everyone feels supported, connected, and inspired to do their best work. If you require any accommodations to participate in our recruitment process, please inform us of your needs when we contact you to schedule an interview.

Please let the company know that you found this position on this Job Board as a way to support us, so we can keep posting cool jobs.
