About Us
We are a fast-growing, VC-backed, SaaS-based, integrated retail operation platform for pet stores and service-providers. eTailPet provides the only all-in-one software solution for pet businesses including point-of-sale, ecommerce, inventory management, appointment booking management, and social media tools. We break down technology barriers for independent pet businesses to level the playing field and give them the tools to compete with the big dogs. We are a geo-distributed team with a female executive team and founder, a team in the US and overseas. We have an aggressive and exciting roadmap and are looking for the right person to get our word out there.
About You
eTailPet is looking for a detail oriented, self-starter, multi-tasker with a positive attitude to own our Data Project. In this role you will exhibit broad skills in end-to-end database design making datasets readily-consumable by visualization tools, working closely with both business & tech stakeholders to make data driven decisions, and acting as the subject-matter expert for the data structure and usage. More specifically you will optimize how data is queried in Athena to power QuickSight data and visualization reports.
We are a fast-paced, high-growth startup. You must be very good with data, creative at solving problems, work well under pressure, be good at managing multiple tasks at once, be very organized and have a high ability to compartmentalize and focus. Strong communication skills are also key due to the high degree of collaboration with other teams and end users required. The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.
This Role Will Include:
Excellence in qualitative reasoning. You understand what data can and can’t tell us, can communicate that to others, and conceptually understand when to apply particular quantitative techniques.
Experiment and iterate. Our work often requires quick iteration and experimentation. You’ll perform data analysis and create visualizations/simulations — learning new techniques and tools as necessary.
Collaborate with colleagues. We’re a passionate and creative community from a variety of backgrounds. You’ll learn from people from a uniquely broad variety of backgrounds and translate concepts between them.
Coding generalists. You are fluent at writing code to wrangle, analyze, and visualize data, as well as implementing algorithms in code (but don’t necessarily need to know about production software engineering).
Collects, creates, ingests, analyzes, evaluates, and iterates through datasets to explore key features, develop training data sets, and create new models.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar analytical field.
Experience in SQL and building dashboards, reports, using Athena and Quicksight
2+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.)
Experience working with Athena and SQL.
Can build dashboards, reports, and visuals with data, in addition to occasional data modeling. Experience working with AWS Quicksight a plus.
Relevant work experience in a role requiring application of analytic skills in a business analyst, data analyst or statistical analyst role
Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders using data visualization and presentation, turning complex analysis into insight
Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, ability to self-motivate, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
Self-driven, with demonstrated ability to deliver on ambiguous projects as well as projects/requests where the underlying data is incomplete
Natural curiosity and desire to learn, a passion for solving real world problems
