Tinder

Data Scientist II, Integrity

Job description

Our Mission

As humans, there are few things more exciting than meeting someone new. At Tinder, we’re inspired by the challenge of keeping the magic of human connection alive. With tens of millions of users, hundreds of millions of downloads, 2+ billion swipes per day, 20+ million matches per day, and a presence in 190+ countries, our reach is expansive—and rapidly growing.

We work together to solve complex problems. Behind the simplicity of every match, we think deeply about human relationships, behavioral science, network economics, AI and ML, online and real-world safety, cultural nuances, loneliness, love, sex, and more.

Tinder brings people together. With tens of millions of users and a presence in every country on earth, our reach is expansive and rapidly growing.

As a DS II on the Integrity team, you will leverage data and automation to help Tinder solve impactful product and engineering problems such as understanding the impact of our user facing features, and creating metrics to better quantify the user experience.

Our team provides Tinder with quantification and understanding of intent, behavior, value, and the potentially complicated ways in which they all interrelate. You will develop frameworks and models for how data should be leveraged in decision making and be a key stakeholder in delivering quantitative tools.

An effective DS II at Tinder must have a passion and aptitude for turning sophisticated problems into concrete hypotheses that can be answered through meticulous data analysis and A/B testing. You must be able to disseminate findings and recommendations to a variety of partners across the organization via presentations, reports, and dashboards. In this role, your insights will influence the performance of our business, the experience of our members, and the direction of analytics at Tinder.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a leader with a point of view for the organization and the team, using data to constantly challenge and reshape our understanding of customer behavior and business performance.
  • Be a strategic partner for Integrity by identifying high impact analytical problems and finding innovative ways to tackle these problems via data analysis, experimentation, and statistical modeling.
  • Derive and communicate data-driven recommendations regarding both the prioritization of potential product/engineering initiatives and performance of current initiatives.
  • Evolve our measurement strategy by identifying novel metrics and measurement approaches to guide product strategy, goals, and experiments.
  • Conceptualize, develop and maintain dashboards for risk detection and monitoring.
  • Help set the team direction by driving cross-functional alignment on projects and priorities.
  • Design and analyze experiments to rigorously test specific hypotheses.
  • Be a mentor/advisor for other Data Scientists on the Analytics team.

  • Skilles Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Economics, Computer Science, Statistics), Master’s degree or PhD preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in data science or analytics, 1-2 years background in Integrity
  • Ability to develop a nuanced business understanding, testable hypotheses, and meaningful findings from data
  • Eagerness to identify and explore new product/marketing opportunities, potential improvements to our data infrastructure, and unanswered questions about customer behavior
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to collaborate with business partners
  • Experienced with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau or Mode)
  • Substantial experience with and understanding of A/B testing

  • Nice to have:

  • Understanding of two-sided marketplaces, machine learning, and advanced statistical techniques
  • Proficient in Python or R
  • Some background – either academic or corporate, in the dating app space

  • As a full-time employee, you will enjoy:

  • Unlimited PTO (with no waiting period), 10 annual Wellness Days
  • Time off to volunteer and charitable donations matched up to $15,000 annually
  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage
  • 100% 401(k) employer match up to 10%, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • 100% paid parental leave (including for non-birthing parents), family forming benefits, and Milk Stork, which provides access to breast milk shipping for business travel, surrogacy, and employee relocation
  • Investment in your development: mentorship through our MentorMatch program, access to 6,000+ online courses through Udemy, and an annual $3,000 stipend for your professional development
  • Investment in your wellness: access to mental health support via Modern Health, BetterHelp, and Insight Timer; paid concierge medical membership, pet insurance, fitness membership subsidy, and commuter subsidy
  • Free subscription to Tinder Gold

  • $145,000 - $155,000 a year
