Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position


This position may be located at either the University Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus or John Deere’s Chicago office location.


The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities


As a Part-Time Student-Data Engineer for John Deere's Enterprise Data Organization located in either Champaign, Illinois or Chicago, Illinois, you will:


  • Software Engineering – You will be part of a team working for the Enterprise Data Organization to expand the Deere Data Factory and help build data products. In this role you will design, create and implement innovative solutions.
  • You will have an opportunity to improve your DevOps and engineering skills while getting to work on Big Data analytics.

What Skills You Need


  • Ideally, you will be pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems: others may apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
  • Graduation date of May 2023 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a regular basis
  • Work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • Work 35-40 hours/week during the summer semesters and school breaks
  • Exposure to one or more programming languages
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies
  • Strong analytical, communication and intrapersonal skills

  • Exposure to Java/Scala, NodeJS, Python or scripting languages
