The Australia Data tribe sits within our Australia Retail & Commercial division and our mission is to combine business & technology capabilities to enable analytics, reporting & data asset development by users across ANZ’s Australia Retail & Commercial division.

As a Data Analyst , you deeply understand the power of data to generate quality customer insight, manage information, identify trends and make decisions.

This role is responsible for nurturing, developing and growing analytics capability across the tribe, building and fostering a strong data driven culture and ensuring knowledge sharing, learning / training / up-skilling, career development, and standards / governance / QA are embraced and adopted .

What Will Your Day Look Like
  • This role will be working along side a DA who produces the HL balance sheet forecast utilising market and internal data as inputs to project the Home Loans Portfolio FUM.
  • Eventually move to Advanced Analytics and become more automated/embedded into robust data assets/practices.
  • Explain advanced analytical techniques non-data, senior stakeholders and work with the data PO to influence others in using these techniques
  • Address and solve complex business issues using large amounts of data
  • Have a clear understanding of the end-to-end analytics journey as well as define and deliver the tribe data roadmap
  • Implement a fact-based culture throughout the bank.
  • Continuous generation, monitoring, presenting and conducting of 'fact-based' analysis of relevant customer insights to use at any time for the development and improvement of relevant and innovative propositions
  • Generate, monitor, present and analyse relevant customer insights, costs, benefits, and risks for customers, clients and cohort products; this could include business casing, what if scenarios and opportunity sizing & assessments
  • Develop tools and methods to fully profile customers and customer segments
  • Source data from a variety of sources to combine, synthesise and analyse to generate insights
  • Support key data platform and/or data scheduling jobs to support insights delivery to key audiences (e.g. frontline, other tribes)
  • Lead, optimise, design and execute business interventions (customers and operational) to uplift customer engagement and business performance

What will you bring?
  • 9+ years experiene in Data Analytics.
  • Financial business acumen with an understanding of Balance sheets, drivers and ability to explain concepts to senior leaders.
  • Ideally with experience forecasting in financial business
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Good understanding of concepts in applied probability and statistics
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience with tools and techniques for analysis, data manipulation and presentation (e.g. SAS, SQL,Python, Tableau, VBA, Qliksense)
  • Analytical and inquisitive mindset to continuously improve the level of insight surfaced
  • Strong ability to translate data insights into practical business recommendations
  • Strong data visualisation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all stakeholders (technical and non-technical)
