As a machine learning engineer in our team, you will be building advanced solutions to battle financial crime in a way that is fitting to our stakeholders: compliance experts at financial institutions, and financial regulators.

The financial system is facing serious challenges. Banks and payment service providers are struggling to meet the requirements of regulators, and current Know Your Customer & Anti-Money Laundering solutions are falling short of needs. At the root of financial crime are felonies involving drugs, human trafficking, and terrorism.
AI and machine learning offer the promise to spot suspicious activity effectively. The team at Sentinels is building cutting-edge AI software products to help financial institutions meet pressing regulatory requirements, reduce false positives, maximise their customer experience, and fight financial crime. Because we operate in the financial domain, we consider explainability and interpretability to be very important, which translates to the solutions we build.
This is a hybrid role: we work 1-2 days per week from one of our office locations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Machine Learning algorithms that act as enabling services in the Sentinels product
- Being involved in discussions and brainstorming on how to solve some of our customer problems using advanced analytics or machine learning algorithms
- Be involved in deployment and monitoring of models to our customers in a multi-tenant SaaS application
- End-to-end ownership of Machine Learning challenges and bottlenecks within the engineering team
- Act like a mentor to other team members, leading by example on engineering best practices
Requirements
- Multiple years of experience within a Machine Learning environment, deploying solutions at scale in production
- Good understanding of supervised and unsupervised training problems and classic ML algorithms
- Experience with public cloud platforms for hosting machine learning related tools and services
- Experience in Python and important libraries like pandas, NumPy, Sklearn
- Experience working with big datasets (1B+ records)
