Data Engineer

The Data Engineer 2 Designs, builds, and maintains data processing architectures and solutions enabling the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data to insights at enterprise scale. The Data Engineer 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities

Humana is seeking a Data Engineer 2 that:

• Ingests data from internal and external sources utilizing cloud native platforms and software development best practices and patterns.

• Develops software tools that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data into insights and actions that enables Humana to better serve our members.

• Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas.

• Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed.

• Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in math, science, or engineering

• 3+ years experience with a combination of data pipeline development and/or data analysis/advanced mathematics/statistics

• Professional experience with Python, SQL, Cloud architecture and components for Data Engineering, and infrastructure as a service.

• Experience with DevOps and an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the Google Cloud Platform, preferably for Data Engineering

• Experience with the Prefect workflow management framework

• Experience with DBT for data transformation pipelines

• Experience using the Azure DevOps platform for source code management, work item management, and pipelines for building and releasing.
