Senior Credit Analyst/ Data Scientist
Help us stay one step ahead
Data Scientists
Salary: £42,287 - £53,990
Location: Trinity House, Nottingham
E.ON is a global provider of specialised energy solutions. Everything we do is about the customer. Whether we’re providing them with reliable energy or creating innovative solutions, our teams work hard to make the lives of customers better.
Right now, we’re looking for Data Scientists to join our expanding debt prevention analytical team which is focused on predicting debt before it happens. This is a relatively new team with significant scope for impact and we will welcome your ideas about how we can do things better.
It will be down to you to carry out detailed analysis of the root causes behind our debt portfolio, identifying and prioritising areas where debt can be prevented before it arises. You’ll develop options and make suitable recommendations for changes to our company-wide processes, policies and implementation plans with a view to reducing new debt inflows, increasing sustainable earnings and ensuring our customers are treated fairly.
On a day-to-day level, you can expect to be manipulating data in order to build credit risk and propensity models – using statistical segmentation and data science techniques to help reduce our risk of future bad debt. We’ll also need you to provide cost or benefit evaluations for any process and policy changes (using your findings to improve the success of future activity), and provide concise, audience-tailored stakeholder communications relating to debt performance.
As well as this, you’ll partner with the wider Operations business to ensure that our debt prevention data is embedded in our performance reporting, and you’ll collaborate with and constructively challenge our Finance Business Partners to drive improved data quality and other debt prevention activities. Your role will also involve influencing our Credit Transformation programme and broader Change initiatives to promote a culture of data-driven insight and decision making. Lastly, you’ll provide research and develop techniques to help us increase customer response rates and improve payment behaviour, working closely with our Customer Insight and Marketing Communications teams.
Because this is such a collaborative role, it’s vital that you can explain technical data clearly and interpret results in a meaningful and concise way. You’re going to be working with senior-level stakeholders and other analysts across the business so confidence, pragmatism and strong influencing skills are a must. You should be an excellent relationship builder; someone who can mentor and motivate others whilst also driving your own progression and taking your skills to the next level.
