Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer

Whisker Labs is passionate about improving home and electrical grid safety using signal processing and machine learning. We're leading the next wave in smart home technology and fire prevention with Ting, an intelligent sensor that monitors a home's electrical network to detect electrical hazards that often lead to the most devastating and catastrophic fires. As a member of Whisker Labs' data science team, you will develop new techniques for extracting insights from Ting's high frequency (MHz) measurements of electrical networks, build internally facing visualizations and dashboards, and contribute to systems that run data science algorithms at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Develop systems for building data sets and training and validating models
• Build visualizations and dashboards for Ting data insights and monitoring overall data science systems performance
• Contribute to libraries and tools for working with Ting data and data products
• Participate in software design, production-readiness, and code reviews
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Science, or an Engineering Field
• 3+ years work or academic experience analyzing and presenting insights from large data sets and in writing efficient code
• Fluency in Python
• Experience performing data analysis of large datasets, using analytics tools (e.g. Numpy, Pandas, SQL), and preparing visualizations to explore technical and scientific questions
• Experience with a *nix-based development workflow (e.g. git, SSH, Make, shell scripting)

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
• Experience and understanding of electrical systems and utility infrastructure
• Experience with cloud ecosystems (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud)
