The ID&D (Innovation, Data & Digital) team has the mission to drive the data & digital roadmap and support the site cultural aspiration. The journey encompasses the use of data and advanced analytics for guiding innovation and performance. We are particularly committed in accelerating manufacturing efficiency, innovating in strategic areas, and building the site's workforce of the future.

The Data Engineer is responsible for employing advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to create and sustain systems that provide real-time data analysis and visualization in biotech manufacturing units. In this role, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of automation engineers, process experts and scientists to build and operationalize data-based solutions to support decision-making and increase efficiencies across manufacturing processes and supply chain.
The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder who enjoys optimizing data systems, automating manual processes, and re-designing data architectures to support our next generation data & digital infrastructure.

Your responsibilities:
As such, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Main activities
  • Conceptualizing and generating the data & digital infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS technologies
  • Upgrading existing systems to optimize their functionalities (e.g., PI Historian, SIMCA-Online®)
  • Designing and building production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption within a big data architecture using object oriented/object function scripting languages: R, Python, Java, C++, MATLAB
  • Designing efficient and secure procedures for data management and analysis according to GMP requirements
  • Liaising with Production, IT, Engineering and Automation teams to identify and prioritize improvement areas
  • Optimization of data queries and flows
  • Forecasting with linear and non-linear methods
  • Applying data structures and algorithms to solve real world problems

  • Contribute to the site digital transformation journey to ensure durable competitiveness
  • Develop trusting and respectful relationships
  • Engage and motivate co-workers to adopt and integrate digital technologies in their respective areas

Continuous improvement
  • Continually seek to improve the efficiency of workflows to simplify processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by making proposals and participating in the implementation of tangible and effective actions.
  • Ensure the implementation, monitoring and communication of performance indicators related to data & digital activities

Exigences minimales

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Knowledge in programming languages and development platforms (R, Python or/and Matlab)
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and big data design concepts
  • Experience in dealing with complex datasets and in designing models from structured and unstructured data
  • Preferably, previous experience in GMP manufacturing (pharma or biotech)

Desirable requirements:
  • University degree in Science is required (BSc./MSc), Biotech, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant fields
  • Fluent English (French is a plus)
  • At least one successful project in manipulating, processing data and extracting value from large & disconnected databases
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to deal with multiple projects and competing priorities
