We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer - (Global Search) (all genders) to join the Global Search on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.
Search is a crucial part of Delivery Hero’s mission to always deliver an amazing experience- fast, easy and to your door. Search teams are responsible for powering search experience in more than 60 countries and 35 languages, enabling 80M+ searches each day across 4 continents. Our data informed culture helps us continuously improve to provide a high quality search experience to our diverse set of users.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be focused on improving search experience for our users by translating business needs into data-driven solutions. You will be responsible for designing, building, and managing ML models data pipelines with a focus on quality, scalability and stability.
You will be obsessed about making search results relevant so that users are able to find their favourite cuisine and items easily and faster. You are a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of data engineering core concepts, and have the ability to get clarity on ambiguous business problems.

- How do we improve ranking of search results?
- What is the intent of the user’s search query?
- How do we reduce zero result rate for our user’s search queries?
- How to make search results and search suggestions relevant to our users?

🚀Your Mission
- Obsessed with making search experience frictionless for our users
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for batch and stream processing to enable analytical and machine learning use cases
- Design and implement robust data pipeline architectures while ensuring data quality to facilitate seamless and efficient data flow, transformation, and integration within the organization's ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Analytics and Engineering to define and implement scalable and secure data systems
- Define and drive the best practices of data engineering within the tribe
- Be a role model for other data engineers in the team
⚡️Your Heroic Skills
- 4+ years of experience as a data engineer working on complex and large scale business problems
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar
- Strong coding skills in Python, Scala and SQL. Experience working with scientific Python stack, Airflow, dbt, and cloud platforms like GCP
- Experience with operating ML systems including feature stores and feature engineering pipelines, data ingestion and transformation, and data quality management
- Effective communication and ability to explain complex work in simple terms to team members, stakeholders and senior leadership

Nice to have
- Experience working with machine learning models including deep learning applications and platforms such as Pytorch or TensorFlow is a plus
- Knowledge or experience with handling event-based data
