The Role:

We are a Senior Data Engineer to join our Business Optimisation team on a full-time permanent basis. This is a unique opportunity to enhance our user experience with data in an innovative way.

As a Senior Data Engineer will assist in the preparation and maintenance of Queensland Country’s Data Platform to support Analytics and Machine Learning use cases. This role will be developing, deploying, and maintaining dynamic and scalable data pipelines to ensure reliable flows of structured and semi structured data from various source systems to Queensland Country’s Data Lakehouse.

This is a full-time position based on a 38 hour work week based in our Townsville Head Office or Brisbane Admin Office.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor qualification in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems, Engineering, or another relevant field
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a similar role (desired)
  • Experience in orchestrating and developing data pipelines using latest technologies and techniques
  • Experience using Databricks to ingest, stream and refine data into Delta Data Lakehouse
  • Excellent skills in Data Modelling and Advanced SQL Techniques.
  • Strong skills in JSON, XML and other semi-structured data.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop scripts in Python or other languages to automate repeatable processes.
  • Demonstrated an understanding of DataOps and familiarity with CI/CD.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on development and deployment of cloud ETL/ELT data pipelines in Azure using orchestration tooling like ADF.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy data platforms in Azure using Terraform (Infrastructure as a code -IaC)
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy applications like complex analytical using machine and deep learning techniques.
