Data at Paymentsense

You can't move fast, stay agile and build industry-shaking products if your data's out of whack. Processing around two million transactions a day means there's a lot to get stuck into. The volume, depth and complexity of our data's as exciting as it is challenging. Our data team enables everyone in the business to build better products and take better decisions for our customers. As we continue to develop and maintain a data-driven culture at Paymentsense, you'll get the space to play, analyse, problem-solve and educate the broader business on all things data.

The Role

If you’re the kind of person who loves to sit in the sweet spot of harnessing the power of data and technology, performing rigorous scientific insight and having a direct impact on business this is the role for you. As a Senior LTV & Customer Behaviour Data Scientist your primary task will be to lead the implementation of our Customer Lifetime Value model- addressing growth, churn and many other factors.

What you’ll do…

  • Work with data scientists, analysts and specialists to architect and implement the Customer Lifetime Value model.

  • Interact with the wider business to share the aims and outputs of the project, helping product and other teams get the most out of what you are building.

  • Starting from the current plan, you will bring your own ideas on taking the project to the next level.

  • Feed new features, insights and learnings from the project back into the relevant areas of the business.

  • Design, implement and improve predictive models that power commercially significant processes, decisions and products.

  • Bring rigorous, scientific analyses to departmental decision making, acting as an advisor and expert on best practices.

  • Work closely within a multidisciplinary data team and across different departments to identify the highest impact solutions and analyses, working together to bring them to fruition.

  • Apply your scientific skills to identify problems, generate hypotheses and conduct experiments and analyses to validate your hypotheses.

  • Be the evangelist for a data-driven, test and learn approach to product development and operational processes.

  • Work in collaboration with engineers, product managers, designers, user researchers, and analysts to craft creative solutions based on scientific principles to ambitious problems.

  • As you acquire an in-depth understanding of one or more areas of the business, you’ll act as an expert mentor and develop and lead training and workshops to raise the standards of our utilisation of data across the company.

What you'll bring...

  • You have co-ordinated and implemented projects involving multiple teams to deliver significant business value.

  • You have a solid understanding of statistics, data modelling, machine learning, optimization techniques, predictive and prescriptive analytical concepts.

  • You have expertise in model development and productionisation. You’ve implemented models that run autonomously and at scale.

  • Experimentation design, adaptive experimentation methods, contextual decision-making, A/B testing.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally in an embedded framework.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, proven track record of building relationships with stakeholders.

  • You’re the commercially-minded person in the engineering discussion and the person pointing out the technical considerations in the meeting of business people.
