The Vulnerability Data Analyst will assist in curating and amassing large datasets for vulnerability, product and security content automation use cases. The position will report into the AVM team.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform daily data cleansing tasks
  • Create processes for reporting and identifying anomalies
  • Curate a dataset consisting of vulnerabilities, products, components and other associated metadata
  • Become a subject matter expert on Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) based specifications and technologies
  • Support data integration from commercial and open source data sources as pertinent to SCAP domain
  • Leverage programmatic means to solve technical problems (e.g., complex SQL/noSQL queries, Excel formulas/macros, python scripts, etc.)
  • Leverage data from multiple systems and databases to solve business problems
  • Ability to manage third-party data partners, including service-level adherence and quality of deliverables
  • Engage with other department stakeholders to ensure consistent data quality in client deliverables
  • Create dashboards using technologies such as Tableau, PowerBI, or Google Looker
  • Create documentation with flowcharts, process manuals, responsibility matrixes and other tools
Minimum Qualifications:
  • This is a full time position
  • This is a remote position for US Citizens living in the United States
  • Proven ability to execute unstructured and highly technical data projects
  • Proven ability to accomplish tasks with limited direction
  • 1 - 3 years experience working with Microsoft Office products, with power user skills in Excel
  • 1 - 3 years experience working with structured and unstructured databases (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, etc.)
  • 1 - 3 years experience with python, node.js or golang scripting languages and experience with APIs
  • 1 - 3 years experience with basic information security concepts to include assets, products, components, vulnerabilities, threats and exploits
  • 1 - 3 years experience working with Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) specifications including CPE, CVE, OVAL, XCCDF, CVSS, and similar specifications
  • Working knowledge of software component naming schemes such as PURL or SWID or the ability to learn quickly
  • Working knowledge of software bill of materials (SBOM) concepts and specifications (CycloneDX, SPDX) or the ability to learn quickly
  • Working knowledge of data science concepts or the ability to learn quickly
  • Working knowledge of JSON and XML data formats or the ability to learn quickly
  • Degree or pursing degree with focus in STEM or business
