We are looking for a Data Engineer to work on production and R&D projects in the business space of logistics, partnering closely with a team of data scientists, performing the development of new features, maintenance, optimization & functional prototyping using modern tools in a cloud-based environment.

Responsibilities:
Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements and develop associated data layers that can easily be consumed by data science applications.
Partner with the data science team to prepare structured and unstructured data that they can use for predictive and prescriptive modeling.
Implement & modify existing ETL/ELT processes that allow for system auditing & monitoring
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure in collaboration with stakeholders
Work in a rapid prototyping area where the ability to pivot is a must
Required qualifications:
Proficiency with relational databases & SQL
Experience with object-oriented programming – preferably in Python
2+ years of experience with big data platforms or NoSQL databases (minimum one of the following) – Snowflake / Hadoop / Spark / Elasticsearch / MongoDB / Redis
Proficiency with Git, or comparable distributed version control system
Experience with using modern CI/CD pipelines
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with ELT/ETL building tools - preferably Apache Airflow
Docker and container orchestration experience (Kubernetes, Mesos)
Familiarity building stream-processing systems, preferably with Kafka
Familiarity with API creation and RESTful services
Interest in learning new technologies and languages
Ability to be resourceful and creative in a fast-paced daily release environment
