The A&M Insight Center is the rapidly growing research and benchmarking arm of Alvarez & Marsal. The mission of the Insight Center is to provide our professionals and our client executives with highly relevant, industry specific, actionable, fact-based insights derived through our proprietary benchmark and research studies on a global basis. The Insight Center supports client work and business development projects with an ever-growing toolbox of products, including custom benchmarking and research studies and targeted subscriptions and resources.
The Insight Center manages several benchmarking platforms used to perform comparative analytics and other related analyses. These environments store information on 20,000 + global companies. The Insight Center is responsible for full life-cycle management of these platforms, including refreshing source data periodically along with other related upkeep and maintenance to ensure the platforms are available and running. The Insight Center is looking for a strong performer to join the team to assist in the data management of these platforms as well as provide analytical support for the firm’s practitioners who are users of the platforms.
Responsibilities
A data analyst is responsible:
- Structured Data Extract – Proficient with tools such as R, Python for data extraction and manipulation of defined structured published financial data from disparate databases.
- Un-structured Data Extract - Familiar with web scraping methods to fetch required unstructured data from web sources and transform it into a structured data for loading into benchmarking databases.
- Database Management – Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools.
- Qualtrics Survey Platform – Good end-to-end understanding of web-based survey and analytics software (Qualtrics preferable), including designing, launching, and performing survey data collection and associated analytics.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess Strong Skills In
- Knowledge of programming languages like R & Python.
- Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data.
- Well versed with SQL and SQL Server Tools
- Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like SPSS
- Having knowledge of analytics workflow tools namely Alteryx Designer to automate work steps of analysis, including data prep, blending, reporting, predictive analytics, and other data science.
- Data Visualization Tools – Microsoft Power BI, and Tableau
- Well versed with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Organization, prioritization, and attention to detail; ability to deliver high quality results, often in a time-constrained environment.
- Strong written and oral communication
- Problem solving skills; use creativity to formulate “outside the box” solutions.
- Flexibility/adaptability; not afraid of some uncertainty
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, in the field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, finance or computer science preferred, with at least 3 years of professional work experience.
