Overview

Come join our growing team here at Burlington as a Data Engineer II ! The Data Engineer II will support business areas including Merchandising, Allocations, Marketing, IT and Supply Chain Analytics teams with insights gained from analyzing Burlington and external data. Must have strong experience pulling data from various internal and external data sources and preparing it for advanced analytics, segmentation & modeling. Must have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills & strong written and verbal communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Pull data from first- and third-party data sources, stitch, and wrangle it for advanced analytics activities
• Leverage data best practices and tools by collaborating with analytics translators, data scientists, and cloud engineers
• Research first and third-party data sources to enable access and ensure availability of relevant data sources for those who need it
• Provide input to cloud engineer for the design and implementation of data management and/or architecture solutions
• Partner with cloud engineer and ML engineer to develop and evolve the concept of data ops
• Set up and provide ongoing operational support of ETL/ELT environments including development, test, and production
• Design, implement, and deploy data loaders to load data into the cloud data platform
• Assist in pulling, filtering, tagging, joining, parsing, and normalizing data sets for use
• Work with the analytics translators, data quality engineers, and IT to resolve data quality issues
• Provide thought leadership on data engineering best practices

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering
• 5-7 years of experience in designing and implementing large scale data loading,manipulation, processing, analysis and exploration solutions

Skills and Abilities:

• Deep technical expertise with pulling and massaging data
• Great understanding of first/third party data
• 5+ years of experience in R, Python, Modeling, Big Data etc. with focus on AI/ML techniques
• Advanced SQL skills
• Understanding of data management principles and processes
• Experience with Azure or one of the cloud data platforms
• Passion for data, analytics and pushing business innovation
