The position as Data Engineer
You will be anchored in the Data Management Centre of Excellence, where you will join a team forming partnerships with the line of business in Novo Nordisk bringing best coding practices to the business. In this way, you will be a professional anchor for quality data engineering, bringing your expertise to our partners in the business helping them achieve their goals.

As a Data Engineer, you will join a team of data engineers driving ongoing development and delivery of our data management solutions, with an initial focus on our data mesh-based platform. In this role, you will be:


  • Contributing technical expertise to your assigned product team, making technical and strategic recommendations based on your knowledge of customer requirements and technological capabilities
  • Contributing to the development, automation and ongoing improvement of data pipelines and platforms built in AWS
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the business, to understand, develop and showcase solutions to their data management needs.
  • Establishing CI/CD pipelines and applying DevOps practices to setup efficient and robust deployment processes.
  • Collaborating with a team of talented internal and external developers to set development standards and best practices for data engineering in Novo Nordisk.



Qualifications

We’re looking for colleagues with the following background:


  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, software development or a related field, with at least 2 years’ experience working with contemporary cloud technologies, preferably AWS. An AWS certification is preferred
  • The ability to understand complex technical matters, form an educated opinion, and communicate with impact to a variety of stakeholders with different levels of technical expertise.
  • Hands on experience with extraction and wrangling of data and SQL databases. An understanding of data mesh principles is an advantage
  • Strong skills in SQL and Python experienced with modern data warehouses
  • A good understanding of DevOps and agile development principles
  • Experience working with a regulated industry would be an advantage



Since you will be working in a global environment, you must expect some meetings to take place outside Danish working hours and some travel activity. Fluent spoken and written English is a prerequisite.

The positions are based in Bagsværd, Denmark.

About The Department

You will join the Data Management Centre of Excellence, a team of +20 data engineers and business warehouse experts. We are part of a global, high performing department with a variety of technical, analytical, and multinational backgrounds.

We do data acquisition and ingestion; data analysis and data engineering; evangelising the use of data and advanced analytics; and supporting data science users of our platform. We are cloud native and we work primarily on AWS. We deliver solutions using Scrum methodology. We have built and are operating the enterprise data lake, data mesh and data science platform on AWS to support our vision, which is to be able to deliver world class management of data.

The overarching goal is to use data to gain new understandings and insights, drive optimisations and create true value to Novo Nordisk and the patients we serve. We #BringDataToLife
