As a Data Scientist in Statistics or Econometrics at Gopuff, you will work with a variety of teams: Consumer Pricing, Experimentation, Delivery Platform (driver experience, driver pricing, and delivery logistics), Supply Chain (assortment and Inventory management), Customer Loyalty, and more.
You will be working with specialists in optimization and decision-making under uncertainty. The statistical and econometric models you make will feed into both high-level company decisions and automated optimization algorithms. The models and algorithms you develop will have a direct impact on the customer experience and success of the business.
We’re looking for a doer, problem solver, and thought-leader.
Responsibilities
Work with or develop causally accurate models that describe how our business and its customers operate.
Design and plan experiments that allow us to continually update our understanding of models without negatively impacting the customer experience.
Collaborate with our business teams and leverage their expertise to build data-driven understanding.
Collaborate with our engineering partners across the organization to deliver data science solutions that are integrated into our technology stack. Work with project leads and product managers to identify and scope new opportunities for data science projects that become essential to our daily business operations.
Productionize and deploy Python-based models using cloud-based tech stacks including Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Ecosystems, etc.
Drive adoption of data products and data science solutions into the planning process for investment decisions with finance and the leadership teams
Identify gaps in existing data, create data product specs, and work with Engineering teams to implement enhanced data tracking.
Partner with Analytics team members and other functions to share insights and best practices, ensuring consistency of data-driven decision-making throughout the org.
Qualifications
MS or PhD in statistics, econometrics, operations research, computer science, transportation, engineering or another quantitative field
Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in data science
Expert programming skills in Python or a general programming language
Data querying skills in SQL
Experience deploying models in a production environment
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms to business stakeholders
Move fast, be a team player, always be learning and give back
Nice to have:
Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, PeriscopeData
Experience with operations research and working with OR specialists
Experience with experimentation platforms and running experiments
Experience with data science applications in delivery management
