As a Senior Data Engineer in the Analytics Platform team, you will help evolve and scale Laerdal’s analytics platform which includes developing analytics products in cooperation with a cross functional team of product owners, data scientists, developers, designers and testers. The team has responsibility to deliver analytics products end-to-end, from the needs of the partners, through design and development, to delivery and maintenance.

Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:

• Developing Spark/Scala data jobs for specific analytics products
• Designing, building and optimizing an efficient big-data processing pipeline
• Creating and implementing data quality frameworks
• Integrating with data sources and systems
• Creating API and exports for applications which present the analytics
• Engaging in architecture, design and code discussions with colleagues
• Serving as a Scala/Spark guru for the rest of the analytics team
• Occasionally communicating and cooperating with the team in Bangalore.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We expect an educational background in Computer Science at bachelor, master level, or equivalent.

Preferably you have:

• At least 5 years of experience with Apache Spark with Scala
• Solid experience in one or more high-level programming languages
• Work experience with system-, platform-, or engine development
• Knowledge about ElasticSearch and DataBricks
• Knowledge about DevOps areas like AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Git, Atlassian toolchain etc.
• Been part of a modern agile development setup using Scrum

As a person you are self-motivated with a can-do attitude, a team player, and you enjoy working in a multidisciplinary cooperative environment. It is crucial that you have excellent communication skills as you will serve as a Scala/Spark guru for the rest of the team. Furthermore, you have a creative mind as you’ll constantly be required to think up new solutions or ways to optimize data pipelines. Finally, you strive to be the best in your field and are not afraid to explore new areas and technologies.
