Job Summary
We seek a highly motivated and collaborative Research Assistant to join a cross-functional clinical informatics team focused on implementation of digital health tools and evaluation of their impact on health and operational outcomes. The Research Assistant will provide project management, analytical, and administrative support for projects that advance the use of digital health for applied clinical informatics research. Key tasks include research project management and coordination, including taking meeting notes, capturing next steps, creating timelines and project plans, and working with relevant stakeholders on deliverables.
The individual will work with quantitative data including basic data analysis, data validation, data cleaning, and analysis and interpretation of research findings. They will assist in preparing the dissemination of findings (e.g. slide presentation, tables, figures), and in submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and modifications. Administrative tasks will include maintaining tracking documents for the team including project progress, grant and conference deadlines.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Department of Urology in the School of Medicine (SOM) educates medical students, residents, and clinical and postdoctoral fellows in urology; conducts basic science, clinical, and epidemiological research, including clinical trials; and provides professional patient care services. The Department conducts its teaching, research, and patient care activities at five major sites: the Parnassus campus, Mission Bay, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFGH), the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center (SFVAMC), and the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (CHO).
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in biostatistics, mathematics, computer science, statistics or related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Minimum 1 year of experience in quantitative analysis or relevant experience
- Comfort with data manipulation, statistical analysis, and data visualization in R
- Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures
- Skills in analysis and consultation
- Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing
- Ability to review, summarize, and synthesize academic literature
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Git
- Skills in project management
