As Senior Data Scientist will join a team of highly skilled specialists whose focus is to accelerate and steer data science initiatives at ROCKWOOL. The potential applications of data science at ROCKWOOL are vast from production and logistics to marketing, sales, and finance. For example, you will help realise their Factory of the Future programme by utilising production data to maximise safety and efficiency at their global factories.

You will be engaged in concrete projects with ROCKWOOLS business functions advising and driving data science projects. You will work with their ambitious strategy of getting unique customer- and market insights as well as achieving operational excellence through IoT, analytics and algorithms.


Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:


  • Engage with stakeholders to identify challenges and areas of improvements in the business
  • Drive and create high quality data analysis and machine learning solutions aligned with business needs
  • Present solutions and insights in a structured approach to stakeholders
  • Pilot, test and deploy solutions in collaboration with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.


As you assist business units across the world, you can expect approx. 10-20% travel to their global locations.



REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


The ideal candidate is expected to have a master’s degree or a Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, computer science or another quantitative field, but experience from a similar role is more important.


You have a passion for discovering solutions and opportunities hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. With your strong problem-solving skills, you have the capacity to deliver operational results – and relying on data-driven insights. You have a proven ability to drive business results and find opportunities for product and process optimisation. With your willingness to learn and master new technologies and techniques, you use models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.


Moreover, they imagine that you:


  • 5+ years of experience in data mining, statistical analysis and machine learning
  • A master’s degree or a Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, computer science or another quantitative field
  • Strong problem-solving skills with capability to deliver operational results
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as R, Python, SQL, etc., to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Vast knowledge and experience with classical and advanced machine learning techniques such as GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, NLP, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawback
  • Speak and write English fluently
  • You have excellent communication skills, allowing you to coordinate across teams and communicate comfortably with non-technical stakeholders


Preferably you will have experience with:


  • Delivering prototypes in development and in production
  • IOT or complex time-series data in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, high-tech or related industry
