Lead Data Scientist; Domain – Supply Chain Forecasting

About the role:

The role is with Target Data Science and Analytics team supporting Supply Chain Forecasting. As a part of the team, we actively build scalable data science products in service of Demand Forecasting Engine. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be focussed on architecting and building well interfaced and scalable modules/services that would be leveraged within the Forecasting engine for accurate predictions. In this role you will be expected to be involved in:

• Consulting with clients to scope data science problems
• Framing business problems in precise mathematical terms with testable hypotheses
• Writing white papers conveying modeling approach/framework
• Drive adoption of module/service/product amongst clients and internal product team
• Partner with cross functional and cross geographical teams to build holistic solutions
• Deploying algorithms and solutions on big data environment

Expected skills:

• Data wrangling and pipelining skills using HiveQL and R/Python
• Ability to write modular code and data pipelines which can be automated and scaled
• Great communication skills and experience in working with clients
• Good programming skills in R/ Python/ Scala/ Java
• Knowledge in statistics/operations management/mathematics
• Ability to lead a team(s) and drive the work in a collaborative environment
• Ability to mentor team members in a project team

Preferred Educational background:

• Computer Science graduates from reputed engineering institutes with 5+ years of experience
• MTech or MS (Statistics, Economics) with relevant data experience of 4+ years
• PhD with relevant experience of 3+ years

Preferred domain experience: in enabling data driven solutions in logistics, supply chain network optimization, labor management, forecasting, inventory management, network planning will be preferred. In addition, experience of working in agile teams/scrums will be preferred
