Data Engineer


We are Compre a leading legacy specialist with over 30 years of experience in the acquisition and management of discontinued and legacy non-life insurance and reinsurance business. We are growing rapidly and are currently recruiting for a new job title to job purpose.


Like most financial services companies, the management and analysis of data is at the very heart of our business. We established a new Data & Technology (D&T) department in 2022 with some ambitious plans, including:


  • Growing in-house development of ReSys, our core insurance system
  • Building an integrated data warehouse and increasing our capacity for new deal data integration through additional resources and technologies
  • Developing new technologies that enhance our operational capabilities across all areas of the business including Claims, Finance and Actuarial
  • Establishing a deeper data and analytics capability to improve the data journey through our business and enable greater insight into our operations and data resources for value creation, including new analytical tools such as Alteryx and PowerBI.


Responsibilities


  • Work close with the Data Integration COE, business and technology colleagues, build solid working relationships with key business users.
  • Take part in the design, documentation and testing of solutions to assigned user stories.
  • Participate in Agile Sprint ceremonies and all stages of the development lifecycle - analysis, design, implementation, unit/integration testing.
  • Promote and educate the Data & Technology (D&T) team and wider business on information analysis and visualization best practices.
  • Enhance the Group's decision-making capability using data and deep analysis, supporting the business in understanding KPIs & other metrics.
  • Collaborate with other D&T functions and stakeholders within the business on reporting and analytics requirements.


Candidate requirements:


  • Extensive experience working on Alteryx platforms, with involvement in data preparation, data blending and complex data sets using Alteryx – you will ideally hold an Alteryx certification.
  • Strong in SQL and PL/SQL coding with ability to analyse data from multiple sources and data structures.
  • Demonstrate advanced ETL skills using Alteryx.
  • Ability to publish reports and small apps to business users via Alteryx gallery and server.
  • Proven experience in integrating back-end (databases) with front-end (dashboards).
  • Differentiate the functionality of similar tools.
  • Great planning and organisational skills; able to manage own time alongside a diverse portfolio of projects.
  • Good stakeholder management skills, and the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships across the business.
  • Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
