Reports To: Director of Data Engineering
Summary of Position:
This role at VisitPay, an R1 Company, is for an experienced, senior-level Machine Learning engineer to join our team and help advance data engineering and ML initiatives as a member of our fast-paced modern ML, Data Engineering, and Data Science team.
This person will apply their extensive data engineering background and ML experience to help ideate, design, build and iterate on the next generation of VisitPay’s ML platform; will be responsible for working with DevOps to develop a robust, efficient, and automated deployment pipeline; and will help design the processes that facilitate our Data Scientists to use the ML platform, ensuring stringent requirements in the areas of performance, scalability, security, quality and reliability. We work in concert with application developers, quality assurance, IT, and client implementation teams in a fast-paced environment where you will be consistently challenged.
We are looking for a high performer with a drive for excellence. You come from either a data engineering or software engineering background and have developed strong production ML skills. You get a thrill out of using data and technology to solve complex problems and deliver useful insights. Key Activities:
- Help design and build our next generation of reliable ML platform
- Optimize ML Ops processes and delivery pipeline
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders and users
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze scoring engine performance and data quality in production
- Collaborate with DevOps, IT, Security, and other teams to automate the processes of deployment, monitoring, model retraining, and more
- Propose new ideas to leverage and enhance ML capabilities. Teach people what the tools can do
- Build tools to help turn data into answers and answers into more questions

Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience working in Data Engineering/Data Science
- 1+ years production level ML experience
- Strong background in either Software Engineering or Data Engineering, with a good understanding of the other
- Significant experience with logging, metrics, monitoring, and performance tuning
- Experience developing cloud-based ML platforms, preferably in Azure
- Experience with large-volume, heterogenous data sources
- Experience with the following is a plus: Azure, Databricks, Azure ML, Python, SQL, Spark, and other ML Technologies
- Extensive knowledge of Machine Learning evaluation metrics and best practices
- Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs
- Prefer knowledge in the handling and security of sensitive data

- This position is either in our Boise, ID office or remote.
